2. CQM applications

In paragraph 1 , we saw that the quartz crystal microbalance is a high-performance tool for measuring deposit thicknesses in vacuum or air, its main use until the 1980s, but it can also be used as a probe to study solutions, deposits and interfaces. Box 2 shows the main fields of application for MCQ and its variant MCQE. They are extremely varied. In particular, biology has opened up a wide range of applications for MCQ.
