1.1 Reactions in solid-gas systems
These reactions involve at least three phases: the initial solid, the final solid and the gaseous atmosphere in contact with the solid phases. When local thermodynamic conditions allow, a new solid phase B forms at the expense of the initial solid phase A, creating new reaction zones at the solid/solid and solid/gas interfaces (figure 1 )
