Titrimétrie thermométrique; thermometric titrimetry
Technique for measuring temperature variations in the solution to be titrated as the titrant solution is added. It is a method for indicating the end of titration. Under certain conditions, it can be used to determine the enthalpies and entropies of any chemical or physical process.
Isoperibolic and adiabatic; isoperibolic and adiabatic
A calorimeter is said to be adiabatic if there is no heat exchange between the inside and outside of the calorimeter. This cannot be the case with thermometric titrimetry, as it is only at the very beginning of the titrant addition that temperatures are equal. Thereafter, the temperature inside the calorimeter varies, while that outside remains constant. The calorimeter is therefore called isoperibolic.
