5. Conclusion

This article explains the principle of control chains and describes the main industrial controllers. Particular emphasis was placed on the PID controller, which in its various versions remains the basis of most industrial control equipment. We show the tools used to analyze digital control chains, which combine controllers with measurement processing, setpoint calculation, monitoring and diagnostics. Control chains are becoming less and less isolated, and we have described the principle of decision-making architectures and operational architectures that lead to integrated automation at company level.

However, in a context where these architectures are becoming increasingly complex, if a company wants to maintain or even increase its productivity, it will have to increase its reactivity to operating hazards, and therefore significantly improve its communication system....
