2. Control system modeling

The functions performed by control systems are diverse. The ABS of a car and the control of a conveyor belt in an assembly plant are two different activities which apparently have little in common. They are both different, for example, from the glass-making process in a float glass plant. However, despite appearances, control systems all operate according to identical principles, which can be deduced from the very meaning of the word control. A priori, this profound unity should make it possible to design general-purpose languages and metamodels. However, as we have seen, the proposal is vertical. To understand this paradox, we need to look at how real time is perceived.
