3.1 Influence of network size
The depth of the network (maximum number of hops from the root to the furthest node), more than the size of the network or the number of nodes, has a significant influence on performance. In fact, the duration of silences imposed by standards, which define mode changes within the network, is proportional to this depth. The induced overload can represent up to 6% of the cycle (and therefore of the bandwidth).
