3.1 Causality

The notion of causality was widely discussed in the 1980s [14][41] . In this section, we will only consider it in the light of the interest it has aroused in the field of supervision in recent years. In fact, diagnosis is typically a causal process, as it consists in searching for the faulty components that may explain the observed malfunctions. Whether we're talking about simulation, explanation or diagnosis, causality is a basic principle.
