5. Conclusion
Petri nets are widely used for modeling communication protocols, assessing dependability, and diagnosing and analyzing the reliability of critical systems. The variability of all these fields underlines the versatility of this tool in different engineering and digital science sectors.
The aim of this article is to provide an overview of Petri nets. First, it presents the various theoretical definitions, as well as the properties that characterize them, including descriptions of various extensions. These theoretical elements are essential, as they lay the solid foundations required for effective implementation of the concepts. We also present the notation we used to implement the EMBEDPN software.
