3. Applications

The new concept of sensor networks and recent advances in sensor size, power and autonomy have given rise to new ideas for original applications in a wide variety of fields. The use of these networks can prove extremely useful in the medical, military, commercial, environmental, home and security sectors. The aim is to optimize the resources used in daily life and reduce the difficulties encountered by humans. In the near future, an average of 100 sensors per person on earth is expected. This imminent reality will certainly change the current network landscape dominated by machine-to-machine communications. This type of exchange will represent only a small percentage of future communications, which will be marked by the Internet of Things and communications between objects.
