1. Origami basics

In this section, we introduce the usual terminology and definitions from the origami world. Basic theorems and conditions, as well as elementary folding patterns, are briefly described, as they have an impact on the design of origami robots. Special emphasis is placed on three-dimensional geometric origami. Pointers to 3D representation and simulation tools are given.
