1. Regulatory context

Decree no. 2003-296 of March 31, 2003 on the protection of workers against the dangers of ionizing radiation (NOR: SOCX0200138D) governs work in controlled zones. This zone is subject to special regulations for reasons of protection against ionizing radiation and containment of radioactive contamination; access is therefore regulated.

The Order of June 15, 2006 ("Zoning Order", OJ no. 137) on the conditions for delimiting and signposting supervised and controlled areas, and specially regulated or prohibited areas, defines the conditions for delimiting areas where sources of ionizing radiation are held or used (nuclear materials, radioactive sources, radioactive waste, particle gas pedals, electrical equipment emitting X-rays, etc.).
