3. Application examples

This section presents various applications of on-line holography for flow characterization. They are not intended to be a comprehensive survey of the work published in this field, but rather to illustrate the technique's potential for measuring various physical parameters in different flows.

3.1 Dimensions (size, shape, etc.), position in space, trajectories and speeds

One of the first application examples we can cite is the technique's ability to reconstruct 3D cross-sections of two-phase flows from a single measurement point. In this case, the difference in index between the dispersed and continuous fluid phases enables holograms to be produced without seeding. Figure
