5. Conclusions

As this article demonstrates, dimensional metrology is based on a large number of standard measuring instruments. The wealth of these means should enable the right choice of instrument to be made, depending on the criteria to be measured and the shape of the part. When inspectors use these instruments, it's not knowledge of the equipment that introduces measurement errors or uncertainties. It is very often an error in the choice of measuring equipment, and a total ignorance of the causes of uncertainty.
