Example 1. Measurement of an M 64 × 6 threaded plug: uncertainty on the virtual flank diameter (table 7 )

• Instruments and references used

  Length measuring bench, with flat keys, equipped with its own ruler.

  Smooth reference pad with a diameter of 50 mm.

  Set of three smooth pins with a diameter of w = 3.205 mm.

• Measurement method

  Measurement of the diameter on plugs by direct comparison with the smooth reference plug. The diameter of the plugs w is known.
