1.1 Measurement range

  • The definition of the measuring range of a linear displacement transducer depends on the direction of measurement relative to the transducer axis:

    • if the measurement is taken in the axis of the sensor (figure 1 a), the measurement range lies between the minimum and maximum span. It is also often characterized by the distance from the sensor to the center of the measurement range (average measurement distance) and by the length of the measurement range;

    • if the measurement is taken perpendicular to the sensor axis (figure
