8. Limits to the use of MT

Apart from the fact that MT is only applicable to ferromagnetic alloys, it has, like all other NDT methods, its own limitations of use.

8.1 Discontinuity not detectable by MT

Magnetic particle testing is a method for detecting surface discontinuities, both open and underlying (very close to the surface).
