2. Calculating emissivity from the complex index

The relationship (6) , based on the principle of conservation of energy, links the transmission factor, reflection factor and absorption factor for a given wavelength:

α(λ)+τ(λ)+ρ(λ)=1( 6 )

where α is the spectral absorption factor, τ the spectral hemispherical directional transmission factor and ρ the spectral hemispherical directional reflection factor.
