1.1 National members
They are made up of the national standards bodies of European countries, one for each country. They were behind the creation of CEN, and are still its backbone.
Today, there are 19 of them, including AFNOR, the French Standards Association.
Table 1 lists the national members of CEN at the end of 1999.
