4. Conclusions

This new edition of VIM will undoubtedly appear complex to many readers. It does, however, have the merit of a high degree of internal consistency between all the concepts and definitions presented.

It has maintained a certain continuity with previous editions, describing both the "traditional" or "true value" approach and the "uncertainty" approach, and thus preserving the concept of error, which has many practical applications.

It's a good idea for all those involved in the measurement process to familiarize themselves with this vocabulary, so that they can understand the concepts and exchange ideas more easily.
