Refers to the number of propagules giving rise to a bacterial or fungal colony on a culture medium.

Propagule; Propagule

In the literal sense of the term, a propagule is a structure of dissemination or reproduction. In microbiology, the term "propagule" is used when the origin of a colony is unknown.
