5.1 Hydrological aspects

As we saw in the introduction, the emergence of VBIs in urban environments has its origins in their use as alternative stormwater management techniques. As a result of this history, numerous tools exist to represent and simulate the hydrological behavior of many of these infrastructures. We present here two of them, which have the advantage of being freely available and offer two different approaches that may prove complementary depending on the use made of them.
