6. Conclusion
The specific history of urban units and the way they are managed are associated with urban soil disturbances of contrasting forms and amplitudes, which therefore influence SOC stocks within the urban soil cover. Efforts are therefore required to protect these soils and their COS stocks, in particular from artificialization and increasing waterproofing. The sustainable development of urban spaces could include in situ recycling of MOS, avoiding their export outside the city. What's more, although urban soils are increasingly being studied, the scientific and operational communities need to work together to increase knowledge of these soils and improve management methods for urban spaces. Sustainable optimization of these soils would help to compensate for the COS deficit identified in them, and thus contribute to the fight against climate disruption.
