5. Control of time-delay systems – Frequency-domain methods
We describe in this section frequency-domain methods and how they
can be used for the control of time-delay systems. As before, the
goal is not to be the most exhaustive possible but to give the authors
a better idea of the different methods currently available. More details
will be found in the references provided for completeness.
We will discuss first the design of PID controllers using loop-shaping
methods, analytical design methods, algebraic/geometric methods and,
finally using robust control methods, mirroring some of the stability
analysis methods discussed in Section
