Phenylethylamine derivatives
Vector privileged chemical structures of therapeutic activities

From a pharmacological point of view, phenylethylamine derivatives (Figure 11 ) can be divided into two series:

• derivatives with a dominant central action, which are few in number;

• derivatives active on the autonomic nervous system, which include adrenergic receptor agonist amino alcohols and adrenergic receptor antagonist amino alcohols. The nature of the substituents carried by the aliphatic chain and attached to the aromatic ring determines the activity profile of these compounds.
