INTRODUCTION
The development of heating networks is a real lever for boosting the use of local, environmentally-friendly energy resources. Some renewable energies would otherwise be difficult to exploit, such as deep geothermal energy, heat recovery from household waste incineration or industrial processes. While local authorities, particularly those with business districts or shopping malls, have every interest in setting up cooling networks, there are also networks powered by the heat released by cooling units, recovered from heavily air-conditioned establishments.
