The French law of January 4, 1978, on liability and insurance in the construction industry, introduced the "garantie de parfait achèvement" (guarantee of perfect completion). Its aim, through amicable management of reservations, is to avoid abusive application of the decennial and biennial responsibilities, and above all of construction insurance.

The guarantee of perfect completion is therefore an additional mechanism to the biennial and decennial guarantees, available to owners who are dissatisfied with the work carried out.
