Triple-phase extraction (TPE)® or slurping involves simultaneously treating the soil gases, the free-phase pollutant in the capillary fringe and the groundwater. This technique is now widely used.

• Principle

  ETP® is an in situ process for the simultaneous treatment of soil gases, free-phase pollutants in the capillary fringe and groundwater. The treatment system consists of a drawdown well or extraction needle and a rigid tube or "cane" placed inside the needle. There are two different types of ETP® : unitary network ETP® and separate network ETP® (figure 26 ):
