2. In-place soil treatment
To understand the benefits of lime treatment and its impact on material properties, it is first necessary to understand the interactions between lime and the minerals in contact with it. The purpose of the following two paragraphs is therefore to shed some light on the interactions between lime and clays, on the one hand, and lime and carbonated materials, on the other. The repercussions on the geotechnical properties of materials treated in this way will then be developed.
