4. Optimized use of granular resources
The primary interest of a quarry is the controlled production of aggregates that meet the requirements of the applications for which they are intended. In civil engineering, these applications are mainly pavement layers, engineering structures and prefabricated concrete elements, and the level of requirements is generally high, making it necessary to be highly selective in quarrying.
To properly exploit a deposit, it is first necessary to eliminate the "discovery", i.e. the clay or weathered mantle that covers it, and sometimes even carry out mechanical sorting during crushing, or even washing, to remove certain polluted fractions, such as clay.
As a result, some operations may become unprofitable over time, or see their reserves dwindle.
