INTRODUCTION
Introduced in the 1970s, high-performance concretes (HPCs) are new concrete formulations with much higher compressive strengths than those previously known: on the order of three to four times higher, with this difference already established in the early stages of the concrete's development (very rapid rise in strength).
These concretes, originally known as "high-strength concretes", have seen their name changed to "high-performance concretes" because, in addition to the exceptional strength they achieve, they have other very interesting characteristics: very low porosity, and therefore high durability, for example.
