life cycle assessment (LCA)
Measurement of the resources required to manufacture a product using indicators (consumption of energy, raw materials, water, waste production, etc.), followed by quantification of the potential impact of this manufacturing process on the environment.
bracing
Static system (in reinforced concrete, corrugated sheet metal, wood, masonry) designed to contribute to the overall stability of a structure, mainly with respect to the horizontal effects it is subjected to as a result of wind, earthquake, impact, etc.
embodied energy
Quantity of energy required for the life cycle of a material or product, including its production, extraction, transformation, manufacture, transport, application, use, maintenance and recycling.
