Particleboard is essentially manufactured from by-products of the primary wood processing industry (planer shavings, chips, sawdust, wood flour) or from lignocellulosic material (hemp or flax shives), and can therefore be described as a recycled product of the wood industry.

After processing into chips, chipping and drying, the shavings are sorted, with the coarser ones making up the core and the finer ones the faces.

After gluing with organic or mineral resin, the lamellas are arranged in a mat and then hot-pressed. The product is available in several configurations, depending on the mat's composition: single-layer, three-layer, multi-layer, extruded with recesses.
