Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), commonly known as "large-format solid structural panels", was first developed in Germany in the early 1990s. Cross-laminated timber panels offer excellent thermal and acoustic performance, as well as high structural strength. As a complete construction system, it is playing an increasingly important role in the building industry. It is even widely used in multi-storey buildings (up to 10 storeys), thanks in particular to its excellent seismic behavior (in compliance with NF EN 1998).

The construction possibilities for cross-laminated timber panels are immense, thanks to their load-bearing capacity and static strength in both directions; cantilevered structures are perfectly feasible.
