6. Glossary

VEC

VEC is a technique for installing glass products—which form the exterior envelope of buildings—by bonding them to a frame. The bonding transfers climatic loads and, where applicable, the weight of the glazing to the structural members.

VEA

VEA is a technique for installing glass products that form the exterior envelope of buildings, which involves, for these glass elements, at least one mechanical fastening device—whether point-fixed, through-fixed, or non-through-fixed. The role of this device or these devices is to transfer all or part of the weather loads, as well as any dynamic stresses (impacts) and the dead weight, to the secondary framing and/or the structure of the building.
