6. Conclusion

The calculation method described here remains fairly straightforward to use, as it largely follows that of previous versions of the NF DTU 39 P4 standard. In its current version, it has the advantage of being based on European codes defining wind and snow loads and of harmonizing the definition of these loads with those used in facade and joinery work.

European standardization efforts on this subject have not yet resulted in a generalized method for calculating glazing thicknesses in buildings. Once these efforts are finalized, an amendment to the NF DTU 39 P4 standard will be necessary.
