1. Determining the Resultant Load P Acting on the Glazing

The forces acting on building glazing result from four different actions:

  • the weight of the glazing itself;

  • the action of wind;

  • the action of snow on the roof;

  • the effect of exceptional loads, which depend on specific risks (hurricanes, avalanches, earthquakes).

Each of these forces does not necessarily act simultaneously with the others, nor do they simply add up. They are therefore weighted to best reflect the reality of climatic and physical phenomena. The highest load determined in this way is used to determine the thickness of the glazing.
