7. Nailed connectors
In the case of steel-concrete composite structures, connectors
are often used to develop the mixed behavior between steel beams and
concrete. The connection is essentially designed to resist horizontal
shear and is referred to as a "shear connection".
Different types of connector exist. They must meet the following
requirements:
transmit shear directly through their base;
create a tensile bond in concrete;
be economical to manufacture and install.
