These bolts are very common on the European market, as they are
less expensive than HR bolts. Initially conforming to the specifications
of a German DIN standard (their name comes from the German "Hochfest
Vorgespann" meaning "high strength for prestressing"), they are now
standardized at European level (standard NF EN 14399-4) and can be
used as high-strength bolts suitable for prestressing.
Screw and nut are marked "HV". The washers are for the HR system.
Their mechanical characteristics differ from those of HR bolts:
only available in 10.9 quality;
The height of the nuts is lower than that of the HR bolts
(approximately 80% of the nominal screw diameter);
the threaded length of the screws is shorter.
