A wooden house is a construction with a load-bearing wooden structure, whose roof is supported by a framework of horizontal or vertical wooden elements. Over the ages, several construction methods have become established, with the design of the building and its final appearance necessarily varying accordingly.

Added to this are new techniques and materials (glulam, for example). As a result, the wood construction sector is constantly evolving, and wooden homes are becoming lighter and more efficient.

There are five construction principles for a wooden house:
