Leg scaffolding was originally made up of wooden bolts joined by ropes, known as "limousins", and is now made up of prefabricated metal elements, most of which can be easily fitted together, but require compulsory training as a scaffold erector or user. If used correctly, they are not accident-prone, but failure to observe the rules will inevitably lead to the scaffold's ruin. Depending on their load-bearing capacity, they are used as mason's scaffolding or "facade" scaffolding for longer-duration jobs. For shorter jobs, they are preferred to bucket trucks or self-lifting platforms, but these are more expensive.
