5. CAN bus tools
To analyze the frames passing through a data bus, you can use a digital oscilloscope, with some oscilloscopes featuring a CAN interface that directly displays the decoded frame they capture. More user-friendly and less expensive is the use of a PC equipped with a hardware interface (e.g. a CAN-USB adapter) and network analysis software.
Wireshark is the world's most widely used free, open-source network analyzer. It covers over 1,500 protocols and has benefited from expert contributions since its creation by Gerald Combs in 1998. Features include:
