ABSTRACT

Teleoperation or "remote operation" refers to the set of techniques which enable man to act (observe, handle) remotely in real time via sensory feedback. The command of force-feedback systems introduces the operator into the control loop, which impacts the hardware and software architecture as well as the command laws. Developments in robotics and the computing sector have allowed for the evolution of the mechanical manipulator into the computer-assisted teleoperation (CAT).
