Visit , we have considered individual magnetic systems: a layer, a stud, an aggregate, etc. In practice, devices use composite systems, i.e. combining several materials and/or nanostructures. There are several reasons for using composite systems.

A first reason is to combine different properties, for example a layer for its coercivity properties, with a structure featuring magnetotransport properties, to serve as a magnetic sensor.

A second reason is practical: it is not industrially convenient to adjust numerical values of properties such as coercivity, anisotropy, etc., which require material optimization for each new value, or even a change of compound.
