3. Rectangular patch design procedure
Here's a simple design procedure based on the transmission line method.
Let be the following values, given by the specifications:
the dielectric permittivity of the substrate ε r;
the height of the dielectric substrate h ;
the desired resonant frequency f res;
input impedance.
The following design procedure (see box) allows us to determine the patch width W, its length L, and the coordinates of an excitation point as a function of a desired input impedance.
