7.1 Transparency and light dispersion

Figure 16 compares the phenomenon of light dispersion by two glasses with that of diamond, an elemental carbon whose dispersive power is notorious. This is the same 3D scene calculated 3 times for different materials, the same observer, the same observation point, the same illuminants in natural light, the same surface condition, the same neutral decor. Calculation performed by Virtuelium (the name of our free, spectral, parallelized image synthesis software) on a parallel architecture using MPI (Message Passing Interface, parallel calculation library) on small machines.
