This survey of commercially available components and devices shows the exceptional proliferation of this field. This proliferation is attributed to the boom in the dual field of very-high-speed optical telecommunications.
In addition to individual optoelectronic components, whose performance has improved considerably in recent years, more complex optoelectronic-microwave functions are being developed, such as ultra-high-performance optical links and optical filtering architectures for microwave signals.
