5. Working methods of international standards organizations
The development of ISO and IEC international standards is governed by ISO and IEC working directives.
IEC technical committees are responsible for developing draft international standards. However, technical committees may delegate to their sub-committees the development of draft standards specific to their field.
The development of an international standard begins with the expression of a need for international standardization and ends, after passing through various stages, with the publication of an international standard.
