, the lithium-iron disulphide battery (Li/FeS
2
) was studied and developed in the USA by Eveready Battery. Although iron monosulfide has also been considered, the choice of iron disulfide is based on its much higher mass capacity (893.3 Ah/kg vs. 446.7 Ah/kg for monosulfide), as well as its slightly higher voltage than monosulfide (close to 1.7 V vs. 1.5 V for slow discharge rates), thus ensuring very good potential characteristics. These batteries have the advantage of having a voltage of 1.4 to 1.6 V depending on the discharge rate, values which ensure compatibility with the applications of commonly used salt and alkaline batteries...
