2. Information processing and operator aids
The operation of a PWR unit is centralized in a unit-specific control room, which houses all the necessary control, monitoring, signalling and surveillance equipment. Systems whose operation is decoupled from the general operation of the unit generally have decentralized control facilities.
Controls (900 and 1,300 MW units) are provided by illuminated push-turn switches (TPL) for action commands, push-buttons (BP) for protection sequences, buttons (TO) for sequences, switches (CC) for measurement selections or during control tests, and hand-held control relays (RCM) and setpoint relays (RPC) for regulation.
