Interconnections Management in Europe

Both methods are based on a common principle: the scarce resource is the physical margin available in the transmission network structures.

The calculation of the physical margin for each network structure is based on the following methodology:

• determination of a reference situation or base case, including at least the networks in the study area (and a guard ring made up of adjacent countries);

• with different fault simulations (N, N – 1...), and, if necessary, consideration of countermeasures;

• by monitoring cross-border links, as well as internal structures influenced by the cross-border exchanges in question.
